Is the Soda Popper any good?
Recently I've started playing around with it for fun in just some random public servers but is it actually a viable weapon choice for the Scout?

P.S. I know the Stock is probably better but I'm asking about the Soda Popper

Ehhh it's a good-ish kinda weapon seeing as how you get 5 extra jumps

It's good if you don't have enough mobility *Insert more smart reasons here*

Also, what is the best way to compensate for the smaller clip size?

Clip size is actually nearly irrelivant since the reload / fire rate is high. In 1 minute I can fire more shells with this than the scattergun can.

Also the quad jump is insanely useful, you can even use it to stealth right above enemies heads if they aren't too bright. Nothing like flying over an enemies head, then blasting him in half.

You don't need to get rid of a primary for more mobility. Winger, Atomizer, and the Boston Basher do just as well over the soda popper.

give it back it's mini-crits, and compensate by removing the -10hp on the atomizer.

I think it's the worst scattergun.
Considering that the scout has 5 other weapons that increase his mobility, AND is the most mobile class anyway, he doesn't need 5 jumps.
A 2 shot scattergun without a useful ability to back it up doesn't cut it for me.

I agree, and it's old mini crits were far more useful than run around for 5 more jumps.
The mini crits for example made it an OK weapon for MVM against tanks.

Mini crits also made some scenarios like hit someone with a bleed weapon, toss mad milk at low health, ultimatly gain more health from mini crit bleed damage aswell as dealing more damage.

It's also good for ambushing when you have the entire set equipped where I sit on that secret spot on that payload map (forgot it's name) where I would kill a heavy.

Honestly old soda popper is the best one over the new gimmicky one.

The Soda Popper now is really a hit and run weapon. Pop some shots off, run, rinse and repeat. It's good for large maps where you can manouver well. It's also fun getting right behind that sniper that has been sitting there the whole time sniping and taunt killing him with the Sandman.

I also don't understand why they aren't still complaining about the weapon.
They hated how it rewarded you for running.
It still does that.
And now you can actually use your primary weapon without setting it off because you control it.

It used to be an OP crutch with the minicrits-on-demand, now it's just a crutch. Don't use it unless you can't figure out FaN jumps.

I would rework the old one by damage delt, then have that alt fire to enable crits.
I would also give it faster movement speed for the duration of crits simply because the crit-a-cola is strapped onto it.

Take notes, Valve.

Scratch that, give it a +10% damage vulnerability while hype mode is active aswell as mini crits and the movement speed are available just to balance it.
