Team Fortress 2
What does it mean to "Main" a class?
What does it mean to do that? Does maining give an ingame advantage? Does it prove immeasurable wealth and respect? Is it the meaning to life, the universe, and everything? Why do people "main"? Is maining like maiming? So if I mained a class, I would also be maiming it? Should I main a class? If so, why? Are you rewarded a cookie for maining a class? Why can't I main the 10th class? What is the most mained class? What is the least mained class? Why is Valve making me ask so many questions?

TELL ME VALVE! TELL ME!

Serious: I think it's wierd that I've played 800+ hours and still dont have a main :\

It's the class you prefer to play as the most often. It's not super important to figure out.

Most common main is pyro. It's been tested.

I meant soldier, pyro is actually very rarely mained.

most the time it means they suck at other classes

In comp it's the class you mostly focus to master. Outside of comp it's the class you prefer playing as.

main means you tried out every weapon
and
are good with every weapon for that class
if you only use one loadout
thats not maining a class
thats maining a loadout

although class mains are mainly for comp purposes where you are usually 1 class all the time and each person has their own specific roles

Competitive is so stiff that you could main one loadout and still be considered maining that class.

They have a lot of banned weapons in 6s since it has different rules than normal tf2, in hl less than 10% of the weapons are banned.

6v6 ........ talken about regresion

When you main a class it means that you focus most of your time and practice on one class in particular. I for example main soldier so I practice on trying to master it. Some people will really switch between all classes when your new but being a jack of all traits isn't going to make you any better at the game because you wont be able to really main or master any class to the maximum extent.
