Sorry but, where is Valve being racist exactly? I can't find any page where they say it's a Russian dance. Let's not forget the time period TF2 is *technically* set in. As far as the comics go, they're much earlier than when Ukraine even gained independence from Russia, which only happened in 1991. I don't know the exact time period of the TF2 stories but it's before that. Exactly when though, no idea. The dance itself has been around since the 16th century and came about in the area we know today as Ukraine. At the time of TF2 though, it's still Russia, like it or not.
Valve states in their update "Dance Like the KGB isn't Watching When you think of the Soviet Union, you think of one thing: the freedom to laugh and love and sing and dance!" Which doesn't say the dance is Russian. I think it's a perfectly valid joke to make here.
Even in the official wiki it states "... they will begin performing a traditional Ukrainian "Hopak" dance." (I know it's not Valve exactly but they still got their facts straight). I would like to see where Valve has said anything about it being Russian or any racist remarks towards either Russians or Ukrainians.
A lot of youtubers and people who make videos/threads on the dance however, say it's Russian. Sadly it's hard to tell them all where the dance technically came from.
