Under the games tab,click on "Activate a Product on Steam" and just do the rest.

I think you go to the "games"tag on the steam page window and click "activate a product on steam" I have never done it but thats my guess

Between STORE and LIBRARY there is a teeny-tiny sign that says Games. Press on that. Now press Activate a product on Steam... . Then, type in your code. And you should get your hat or whatever.
