I have been wondering this for a while and can not find a definite answer. Can someone please help me understand better?

I will keep it short:

Guys items get somehow stolen (Phising link for example), he gets a Steam Support ticket, Steam support traces IP and confirms whenever he really was scammed or not, if he really got scammed he will get dupes of the items stolen from him.

That isn't explaining HOW they get duped.

If you are wondering how people get duped items like Earbuds and Unusuals etc. Some people at Valve are payed by other people to dupe items and give the dupes to the people that payed money. This is kind of illegal in some ways using Stolen Valve to grant you items.

If you are wondering how people get duped items from Steam Support. Again, some people at Valve create or 'duplicate' the items they lost. They have the power to do this and is legal.

I literally just went on a server and asked people 'how do you dupe items' and they replied 'stolen valve get payed to dupe items for people'

But what you said is right aswell, the items stolen from him will get duped and given back to him and the scammer will usually just get a Trade Ban or something.

Why would valve do that? Does valve not care for the Tf2 economy at all?

How do you get the actual ticket? I was scammed of an unusual (absolutely no items in return for the hat) and I want it back. Could you possibly add me and explain?

You frequent PPM trade servers, yet you don't know how items are duped.

SHAAAAAAAAAAAAME.

Wow the ignorance of the poster here.

Like a dude before said an item is duplicated by Steam when it is proven that an account is hijacked and the items falsely traded by the person hijacking the account.

They do this by using a file backups constantly taken on the item servers. The items are then recreated from this file and this they are duplicated or 'duped'. There are now two unusual/earbuds etc that have the same original ID.

Now what Valve does not do is take payment to duplicate unusuals. Whoever told you that is trolling you.

So dude don't believe the crap they tell you on servers. Most of them are so young they havent been weaned from their mom's teat and don't yet understand that their willy is used for something else other than peeing.

Also, people may have traded around legitimately for the items (can't be bloody mind readers and know that it's scammed). So it's better to dupe it rather than retract the items.

I'm pretty sure VALVe dupes items when they can be sure that some one was scammed.
