{Problem} Medic is useful...But he isn't fun.

Don't get me wrong, medic is essentially the most powerful, useful, and team oriented class.
But he is just BORING to play as.

Ever notice how the majority of pubs have no medics? Then you complain "We need a medic" but you don't switch to medic yourself. The reason why other people don't is the same reason you don't.

Outside of competetive matches or friend matches, there is no reason to play medic. He can't really do anything on his own.
I know "Team" is in the title, but the truth is pubs prefer to lonewolf.

I am not suggesting more people to play medic, but I suggest they try to rework medic so helping his team will also help himself. Because right now, he is the oreo of an oreo. No one wants to eat him, but he keeps what they love together.

The main reason why most people don't play medics in pubs is probably because unless you're in a specific server with good players, most people on the team are going to be terrible and incapable of decently protecting the medic. I'd say that playing as a medic while on a good team can be fun, but the problem is that your team will most likely be full of terrible players with a few decent players.

There really isn't any way to change the medic to make him more fun to play as while his team is mostly incompetent without the change being unnecessary or perhaps unbalanced. If the medic would somehow be better by himself, then that would most likely require a significant rework, and if it doesn't, then it might not be that impactful enough to change anything. Either way, a rework isn't necessary when the main problem is the bad players on the medic's team.

Generally it just means they are a bad medic, aka can't stay alive to uber, thus no fun. True sometimes a pub team is so bad it makes medic pointless because they will just waste your effort. But its not because its boring. Its because they don't deserve to be healed.

I actually love playing medic, being my second favorite class, and would play him more often, but it's the other people that persuade me not to.
Wether he's boring or not is a matter of opinion. However, he is irritating to play as if your team mates are greedy.

Dying? Yell at the medic for not always being on you
Getting attacked on a lone path by a random scout? Complain to medic
Backstabbed/Sniped after uber is activated and the medic isn't using stock? Ban him if he doesn't switch
Medic is trying to kill a scout that is attacking him? Yell at him for not doing is job
Lost the game? Blame medic
Under attack while being healed by a medic? Run away and blame medic for dying
Medic is sniped or back stabbed? Blame medic for not dodging
Don't have a medic? BLAME MEDIC

I made a topic about why medic is good, check it out if you like!. Also, I play medic, sniper, and spy. Love medic because he can do so much with 1 class. You have a 400 damage per clip machine gun, a 70-80 damage per shot sniper rifle with good ROF and healing on teammates, invuln powers, Etc.

Due to things my crouch key is Z, and I moved the voice commands one over, but I'm assuming you mean the "thank you" voice command.

At first I used voice commands for lulz, but after awhile became accustomed to using them properly, and using them during semi-funny moments. (Soldier blows himself up? Thank him.)

But yeah, you feel like you they don't even appreciate or care for your work if they don't thank you...

Its also automatic, when you stop healing them, they automatically say it.

It is fun in organized games. Can basically just multitask medic with outher things while in pubs though. Like watching TV, or reading a newspaper.

I find playing as medic very fun. You just have to find what you find fun about playing medic is all.

I kind of agree, especially if your team is bad and the other team is good. Medic is very fun if the teams are balanced, but if the teams are unbalanced, you'll have people on the other team out to get you (because Medic is a high priority target and they know that), and your team will be unable to defend themselves. At that point, it feels like much more fun to play as a solo or roamer class, even though you know the Medic is more important.
