Why does scout wear pants and not shorts?
It just seems shorts would be better for running, and why does he wear long socks?

He was modeled on that old dream of 1950's America with little boys playing baseball out in the rain. That's why he looks the way he does.

because if your running you can always keep your body cool imagine a map like cold front or viaduct in shorts.

As you may notice, he uses bats a lot, who else use bats? Baseball players! He's based off a baseball player in the 1950's.

Why are people saying he's modeled after a 1950's baseball player? Baseball players now look pretty much the same as they did back then, except more Cuban.
