"Thank your friend!" notification keeps coming back
So, not long ago I picked this game up and I keep getting the notification to say which friend recommended TF2 to you. Well, in all honesty I first played TF2 on the Xbox 360 when I got The Orange Box, so i already knew about the game. I keep dismissing this notification but it comes back each time I launch the game. Any idea how to get it to go away?

Well I try that but when I do my friends list never comes up

Just select a friend from your friendlist. The notification will be gone. There is no other option.

my friends list never shoes up. It says 'retrieving friends list' but it never shows up

It gives the friend you picked some kind of glasses cosmetic (Professor's Speks I believe). That's what I've heard anyway.
