[SOLVED] TF2 item disappiering after accepting a Trade Offer [SOLVED]

First of all Hello, and thanks to everyone who is reading this..

I've received a Trade Offer from one guy. After some consideration I've decided to make a deal. So I've accepted it, but also I had to confirm it at my mail afterwards. So I went straight to my email and I've "Confirmed the Trade" You will usually get redirected to your trade offers in few seconds. But this took nearly a 1-2 minutes of loading. After that I got redirected to my trade offers and it clearly showed me that I didn't ever accept the offer. I was worried what happened, first of all I checked if Item servers weren't down. It looked like they weren't (at least everything worked smoothly).

So I accepted the offer again. It has to be repeated again.. It told me I need to go to my mail again to confirm it. I went straight in, confirmed mail and.. It redirected me to my trade offers again (it has shown as I didn't ever accepted the offer) So I have repeated all this by the last time (3rd time).. But when I accepted the third email authentification mail it said "Items Now Unavailable For Trade"

It wouldn't be that weird, but what happened next is WEIRDER THAN ANYTHING. I still got my item in my inventory. But his hat (Unusual Hong Kong Cone) has magically dissapeared. (Steam item server appeared to be offline at that time). The weirdest thing about it is that my/his trade history shows this: http://s25.postimg.org/u4jzcob73/image.png

Yes, his hat is missing. Not only there but even if you look at his inventory it's just not there. Joining a game and refreshing backpack didn't work. I tried to cancel all my trade offers - didn't work. He is missing an unusual worth quite a lot of money. He sent a ticket to Valve but I'm afraid Valve will try to transfer him my hat and they will not transfer me his hat, JUST the keys (because he has linked them only the trade history). I asked him to include the email authentification but he has email authentification turned off!?

Well anyways this is screenshot of my email authentification of the trade so you can see we have really traded my hat for his hat + keys.

Thanks for reading and I'm open to any clever ideas how to solve this issue. As I heard I'm not the only one that has issues with "dissapearing items" but usually all of these cases end up with items randomly popping up in notifications/inventories.

It isn't only me I guess:

I've randomly visited a scrap.tf and this is what it told me when trying to trade with one of their bots:
"ScrapTF | Jessecar:
As a precautionary measure, all trading on scrap.tf is suspended until Valve solves their major trading problems. We advise you to not do any other trading until Steam trading is working properly again. When trading, items aren't being transferred properly and the items sometimes are being lost in trading. We don't know when Steam will fix this but it's a major problem."

I've had this problem in the past. I won a giveaway for a pyro set, the guy put in the items in the trade, and I received them. But the items didn't show in either of ours backpacks. So what we did was organize our backpacks using the organize by item (or quality thingy) in the top right corner. It would possibly solve the issue as it may be in your or his backpack. Since you said that he turned off email verifications, steam support may not be able to help with this issue.

First of all thanks for an informative reply. But as I mentioned in my notes, he/we tried to organize backpacks, refresh inventories, restart steam, restart pc.. everything you can imagine.. I'm mostly worried about my hat though. I got hijacked very recently. Lost over 2250 keys. Now I've started trading and Valve might move/duplicate my hat because the "fake (bugged)" trade history? Not only that but I'm also worried that my hat will magically dissapear also.. And by the way I told him that Valve might just ignroe him for disabling it, he repllied that this wasn't a hijack/scam though. Well no idea to be honest.. Any ideas? Anyone?

I sold A rancho relaxo For 9 ref it said it would give him his items in 15 days,it didn't say that On my Side.I guess I will Just have to Wait

Items appeared in the inventory few hours later. It was just a bug that is already fixed. If you happen to run into problem like this just wait few hours (possibly even days) then write a ticket to Steam support (if no response try again).

i traded a glided guard and box car bomber for a bonk boy (yes i have the steam app) so the bonk boy just didnt appear when i confirmed it on the steam app (please help)

SickzMedia I have the same issue as you. I had so much items in my old account, I traded it to my new account and the old account I have confirmed in my email. WHAT REALLY WEIRD HAPPENED was that after I have checked my inventory it said 1 trade on hold, it will never ever complete the trade offer so im just gonna wait until it will work, but I am not 100% that after I wait it will come back. So I am asking you that since your issue has been solved already, can you please help me solve this issue. Thank you! 😃😄😉😊

Try to wait few hours - days. I think my issue got fixed after like 2 days.

Same for me, i traded a rescue ranger for a frying pan and both of us verifyed, one by email, other by phone, and my rescue ranger was gone and his frying pan too! i didnt get my frying pan nor did he get my rescue ranger!

there is something called "trade hold" its takes your item(s) and the persons item(s) and keeps its on hold for 15days the hold will be shortened if your friends with the person for over a year or something
