Crashing on Sending Client info

Hello, I have run into a big problem with TF2 and, in fact, all Source engine games recently. When running these games, they have good fps, and are generally bug free. That doesn't matter at this point though because in any game, whether it be TF2 or CS:GO, the game will crash during the 'Retrieving Server Info' and 'Sending Client Info' stages of joining a server. I wait for as long as I can reasonably, and some times it eventually does get me in game, but more often than not it just straight up stops responding forever.

Even when I do get in to the server, it can take upwards of 10 minutes to get past sending client info sometimes. This is quite infuriating because in this game, matches can last for less than ten minutes, and in CS:GO, it gets me banned very often. I would appreciate a swift response because this problem is putting me off any Valve made games quite hard, and I would like to play the game that I purchased.

I have a fast connection, current gen SSD, and it happens on any server, regardless of ping.

i get this too but a update may fix it, i think the update that was supposed to fix it for some broke it for me

yea guys delete or move all your custom stuff out of tf2 files thats what i did

Turning mat_phong to 1 did the trick for me. If you have that already on and it still doesn't work, try to remove any custom mods out of your custom folder. Now we just need to wait for Valve to fix their sh!t.

Hi.i was in the same kind of trouble past year.i tried everything from reinstalling windows,defragmenting,antivirus turn off,reinstaling steam and game itself,and updating drivers manually.last week i gave a try to Driver Booster 2 software.it found 15 outdated system drivers and i updated them.since then everything is working fine.map loads in 10 seconds and laptop temperature dropped by 10 C.I have Lenovo model z500.i never could find those updates but driver booster found them. i never install this kind of automatic scaning updating software but this time it was worth it.you can try it.i hope it will help you and everyone with same problem.i think this is the only curently valid fix for this kind of problem.for me it was the drivers problem.this should be the fix for all valve source games

are you sure? i mean everything else you did could have done that

as i said i tried everything and manually updating my drivers, but somehow driver booster managed to find updates for system drivers that i couldnt find on oficiall sites of lenovo or intel.

Works perfectly till I join any Valve server and everytime (maybe) I join a hightower game for some reason it rarely happens in the community servers

Thanks, I completely forgot about the few hundred mbs of custom stuff i use on community servers LOL
