Valve doesn’t add warpaint submissions that take extra coding because that would require extra effort that valve doesn’t feel like doing.
I've seen snipets of the code and... yeah, it's bad. Like, spaghetti bad. It really needs a cleanup, but since that's what would cost too much, adding anything has to be "easy", so if anything needs "extra code" for it to work, they'll implement the minimum necessary for it to work without breaking the rest of the game.
You did your best. If you have contact with Valve, ask them how to upload war paint case in Workshop so this mishap will not happen again. Maybe there is procedure, or set of instructions... but-hurt attitude will not help you in any way.
does self illum do that? I was under the impression it was to make a texture glow instead of making it glossy
