You can only perform the self-inspect animation when weilding a patterned weapon. I really wish you could do that with Australiums/Botkillers/KS weapons, though.

That's a bit odd. Try rechecking the keybinds and restarting/verifying TF2's cache.

Absolutely. I do understand what Valve is going for (the texturing and modeling on the first person weapon models is pretty smooth) and it is there to show off the new custom weapons, and making animations for the games over 100 different weapons is going to take a lot of work. I do hope they build up to it, but giving the current other customized weapons animations would be a welcomed start.

That said, I really wish they would make it a different key (or only enable it when not selecting a view target) as to not let inspecting a target's loadout get overshadowed.

The problem is, the animation is still there, I can type in +inspect into the console to inspect it.

It's just that it seems a bit unfair, skins are cool and unique and that's great, but what about those festives and aussie lovers out there, hell even reskin users who love thier weapons? They're not allowed to inspect thier item, because it wouldn't allow Skins to be unique right? Wrong, they're just as unique as any other cosmetic item, and even have qualities. I understand it would take a lot of time to do custom animations for every weapon in the game, especially when theres things like Crusader's crossbow that's so different from the other needle gun models, and countless others. But it needs to be done.

Also I'm pretty sure if you just hold it for a slightly longer time it will start inspecting your weapon regardless if you are looking over another player.

You have to hold the key.

Hm, could simply be a bug, os specific or not, although I had no issue with linux or windows. I assume you would notice an unknown command error in console, but slim chance the key is bound to the old inspect instead of +inspect?

you can only inspect weapons with skins
