How is value determined for non-marketable items?
Eventually, I'll likely be trading most if not all of my TF2 items. However, if it's a non-marketable item, but is tradeable, what's a typical standard for monetary value? The price the item would be through the game if bought from the Mann Co Store? The reason I ask is so I can be sure I don't get totally ripped off when the time comes.

The price should be less than the marketable item, but it determined by the demand

The price cant exceed the marketable item because it would be like the iPhone 5C being more expensive then the iPhone 5S (which is better than the iPhone 5C)

People might want the item at a cheaper cost, so they would take the non-craftable or non-marketable items.

yeah

I see, that makes sense.

So for example, I have a Back Scatter. It looks like the lowest priced one currently is for a "Killstreak" Back Scatter is like ~0.40, so mine is worth something less than this, seeing as it's just a regular Back Scatter and not a "Killstreak" one (whatever that is)? Just trying to make sure I understand clearly. I apologize if I sound like an idiot, but I'm slightly new to TF2 despite having owned the paid version of the game for like 7 years lol. With the TF2 Wiki having been down for a couple days I've been unable to really research much.

unmarketable items do not have market value
they have value on the in game currency- ref
Your items are not worth anything near that
regular weapons are worth about 0.005 USD. Killstreak weapons have a much higher price because they are killstreak- which you get from killstreak kits

The TF2 economy is based off of supply and demand. regular weapon drops are very common, so there is a lot of supply. People can easily aquire them from the drop system, so there is no demand.

Then there are items such as hats. You can get hats from the Mann Co Store or from unboxing a crate. There are people who test their luck, so they unbox ALOT of crates. They get the cosmetics, and since they unbox alot, they get quite a few cosmetics. People want the cosmetics, so There is a demand. The cosmetic isnt easily aquired so it doesnt have much supply.

then there are unusuals. There is a huge demand, but you would get very lucky if you unboxed 1 (0.001% chance), which is why they are so expensive

Weapons have the least demand in the game. In general, they're all worth just one weapon, or to someone desperate, a scrap at most.
Some rarer weapons have higher prices, but that's largely because they either don't drop or some other reason that would affect their availability.

Your best bet for item worth is Backpack.tf. It's a community trading site with prices voted on by users. It's not perfect, but it's the best i've seen.

https://backpack.tf/pricelist

Type the name of your item there, and look at what shows up. 0.33 Refined = 1 Reclaimed, 0.11 is a Scrap, 0.05 is a weapon.

Yeah none of that stuff on backpack.tf really makes sense to me yet. I'll need time to figure out what all the acronims mean. Thanks for your help folks.
