Why aren't most items sellable?
I recently started playing TF 2 more and I noticed that pretty much all the 'hats' could not be sold on the market. Why is that? It cant be because they are sold in the Mann Co. store. In CS GO, there are items that you can buy from Valve directly such as music kits and stickers, but can still sell them on the market place.

See, TF2 and CS:GO have very similar markets.
This is different.
Many hats are unsellable because they are normally either achievements or dropped.
The uncrated ones can be sold, however.
So buy some keys and crates and get to unboxing!

You're not allowed to make "free" money off of "free" items. If you didn't put money into getting the item, you can't make money off it in return.

In CS GO there are weapon skins that are drops that can also be sold. But What about the things you can buy from the Mann Co. store? Why cant you resell them?

In CS GO you get drops for free that you can turn around and sell instantly
Because it would be a lot cheaper than the Mann Co. store, and then people would realize just how much of a rip-off it is.

Unless if its limited, vintage, strange, or killstreak. No unique hats can be sold on the market because there are too many of them ingame. People would bloat the market with hats trying to make a profit with the metal from idle accounts.

Sure, but you also paid for CS:GO in the first place.

And this, too.

Hmm I suppose. A lot of the items that are sold on the CS GO market aren't ones that you can buy whenever you want.

Again, CS:GO is different.
Not only do the prices vastly turn on you, but you can make more money from scalping.
In TF2, people are smart. The Mann Co. Store is normally found to be a waste of money, as many other items can be found cheaper on the market, thus they are just unfair deals and therefore unmarketable. Like what the other guy said. Even keys were getting cheaper on the market, but only by a bit.

That's odd. Keys in CS GO are more expensive on the market.

Keys in TF2 go from $2.45-$2.50
The highest I saw was $2.52.

What in the market? Also how can people make a profit on the market by selling for a lower price? There's also the fee Steam charges for placing something on the market

It's a pretty long story, but to make it short, the market has more to offer and therefore is a better resource for items than the Mann Co. Store, and ended up branching off to it's own prices.
I sold a Genuine Texas Ten-Gallon for a dollar less and got profit.

I don't understand how it can get a profit.
