Mic not working in-game?
I'm not sure what happened, but whenever I try talk while playing TF2, it won't work at all.

What I mean is that when I press the key to speak into the mic (Mine is set to E), the bubble with the "!" in the middle doesn't show up on the screen.

(Now if you're one of those people that like to be rude and give a childish response, then don't reply)

I went in to options/voice and even trying to test my mic doesn't work. It automatically stops the test when I press "Test Microphone".

I've even tried going in to steam settings/voice and that doesn't seem to work as I can test the microphone, but no noise is shown on the bar.

I've looked through the main microphone I use (Default Realtek because my Blue Snowball broke) and there doesn't seem to be anything that's preventing me from not talking in a game.

Do other VoIP programs/sound recording programs detect and "hear" your mic?

I don't have any other recording programs. Only the realtek one.

I mean like, can you confirm that your mic is functional in the first place?
Use playback (probably says "listen to this device") on the Windows sound panel (if you use windows, that is) to confirm that your mic does work on the OS level.

Have you checked the bind?

Yeah, I've confirmed it does work on the computer itself, but not in TF2 for some odd reason.

Btw, I have windows 10 and talking on the mic does work because I have been able to before this happened.

Yes I have, it should work, but it apparently doesn't...

For anyone else having the same problem and finding this out through google I found a potential solution. Try snd_restart in the console or unplugging and replugging your mic. You can also try a combination of both, that worked for me.
