Sticky Spamming is OP and Always Has Been
First off, I'm going to point out that this is coming from the words of someone who actually mains demoman. I agreed with the nerfs to the stickybomb launcher in the Love & War update. In fact, it was one of the few nerfs I actually agreed with. The other being no random crits for bushwacka. (Honestly, any item that lets you activate crits in any way should disable random crits for your whole loadout.)

With a base damage of 120 and 8 shots to a clip, it does far more damage than a rocket launcher and a lot faster. It's such a stupidly powerful case of "I can do everything you can do better", that it honestly makes soldier kind of useless. And while soldier can shoot further, the slower, easier to dodge nature of rockets doesn't really make distance an advantage, as from far away, they look more like flying snails.

It's sad. You see demos who probably tried the grenade launcher for 2 minutes before deciding, "♥♥♥♥ it, this weapon sucks because I'm bad at it." Then they just start sticky spamming, because it's so painfully easy to hit targets with. In all honestly, I think the only times you should have a sticky launcher out in an offensive situation is if there's a scout, pyro, or a sentry, or in some cases, your nade clip is empty and you need to kill fast. Otherwise, you should be using those stickies to set a trap.

Worst of all, Valve supports it. The Gun Mettle update didn't even add 1 painted grenade launcher. Not that I'm affected by that, I'm happy with my strange that I have now, but man, that's a really sad eye opener.

I can't say I will ever respect sticky spammers. I don't find any of you skillful in any way whatsover. In fact, I had just gotten off of a server where I destroyed one. Mind you that doesn't make it less OP, it just means I'm practiced enough with the nade launcher. Sticky spam doesn't take pracitce however. I could probably teach my dog how to do it if I had the patience.

I can at least proudly say I have far more kils on my grenade launcher than I do my sticky launcher, despite having gotten the sticky launcher way before the nade launcher.

Hey m8, I'll read your post later, but for now all I can say is: It's not OP.

Look at ze Soldier, ze Scout, ze Heavy. They are all annoying classes that have a lot of potential.

Another demo main here. Just wanted to let you know that you'll never see a sticky demo in your life unless you play competitive. I'd go more into detail, but i have school. :/

You main demoman, your arguement is valid.

Then, don't rush into Demo as he just lure you to it.
And don't move in predictable ways... flank him. (Spy's backstabbing?)

You know what's NOT op?

Airblasts. Or bullets.

Okay, you're saying that Sticky Spamming makes Soldier....useless? Seriously?

Do Demoman have the buff banners that not only benefit themselves, but also any and all nearby teammates? No.

Do Demomen suffer less damage from blast jumping than Soldiers do and can perform it even more effectively? No.

This is my main gripe with your post here. Sticky Spamming is powerful, I'll admit, but it dioesn't automatically make Demoman the 100% superior class above above all others in the game when using it.

The Sticky Bomb Launcher was always meant to be both an offensive and defensive weapon. It's very powerful in the right hands, but I secondary Demo and I personally find that it's not easy to pull it off effectively, at least not until spending a lot of time with it. I mostly use my primary along with either a shield or the Scottish Resistance, though.

It may be powerful, but there are ways to get around it even still.

Stickies are really easy to avoid (especially after the l&w nerf) and on top of that other offense classes can avoid the range of their effectiveness, get on his face and kill him.
Also may I ask what do you want demos to do?
Place only traps?
Because this isn't tfc you know.
Stickies in tf2 are really situational because the game is more focused on pushes and kills and the only classes you need for defending an area is heavy and engi.
Let demos be creative with their stickies because they are intended to do so.
Although I want demos (like many other classes) to have a limit on pubs.

No, they can't, because the rest of the forums would be empty

The only time I hate stickybombs is when they use it to trap your spawn.
quetz Sep 2, 2015 @ 1:31pm
No, it's not.
