Fists of steel.
Just a quick question; The fists of steel for heavy are supposed to negate fourty percents of the damage taken from ranged sources such as projectiles or bullets. However, I still find myself being one shotted by snipers on full charge.. A fully charged sniper shot (When It's a headshot) does 450 damage. If you remove 40 % from 450 It's equal to 180. If you remove 40 % from 520 It's 208 (In the Machina's case) Which is still going to be lower than the Heavy's max health, 300. Am I missing something here? When this has happened, I've always had 300 hitpoints or more with the fists of steel active.

Maybe you got headshotted by two snipers at the same time?
I honestly have no other explanation, there is no ranged weapon that can do that much damage.

I doubt it, but it is a possibility I guess.

Damage reduction only applies to non critical damage. So you get the 40% reduction on the non critical 150 damage from the sniper rifle, but the extra 300 damage goes through without any reduction.

That's why the vaccinator uber reduces critical damage so much, otherwise the kritzkreig would tear through it like wet paper.

This also happens with people wearing the darwin's danger shield. The shield blocks 15% of the intial 50 damage, so it stops 7 damage, but the remaining damage from the critical headshot goes through, so if someone shoots you right after zooming in you take 143 damage, and not 128 damage.

Oh! Right, that makes sense. Phew, I was starting to worry that I was either going bonkers or losing more mathematical knowledge than I'm comfortable with.. Thanks for the answer.

No problem, glad I could help!

wrong
FoS affects all types of damage that's not melee, and does reduce bullet, explosive and fire crit damage. You'll score 90 damage for quickscoping a FoS Heavy rather than 130.
The OP is just doing his math wrong rofl, the damage equation would be like this:
d = damage taken
f(d) = damage taken when using FoS

f(d) = d - .4(d)
f(d) = .6d

Thus you take 60% of incoming damage, instead of 40% as OP thought

A fully charged headshot deals 270 damage to a FoS Heavy (can confirm, yields 270 in gameplay)
A fully charged machina headshot deals 311 damage to a FoS Heavy (can't confirm, but should be correct)

Thus a wounded FoS Heavy can be one-shotted by a stock headshot, while an un-overhealed FoS Heavy will be one-shotted by a machina headshot

Oh.. Well that made me feel a bit daft. Thanks for clarifying!
