I'm on the fence, they're annoying, but managable to shrug off. Losing a duel because of them sucks, winning one is kinda awesome. So, I'm somewhat neutral.
I don't really see hypocrisy in that.
People don't hate crits, they hate random crits. There's a difference.
they're going to inherently favor certain classes/situations/loadouts/maps/teams more than others
on top of that, they benefit players who are behind more than players already on a roll, even though they're statistically given [very slightly] more often to players who are doing better, completely negating the point of having the damage ramping in the first place
if you already have an advantage, throwing x3 damage onto the pile isn't going to make much difference, since you're going to have momentum+player numbers+health/ammo [and most commonly raw technical skill] advantages to begin with
on the other hand, if you're backed into a corner, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain from getting a lucky 2% instakill, especially since aggressive players trying to capitalize on their advantages will likely be playing close together, allowing you to kill/fatally wound multiple players at once with a crit
As in, get killed by crits all the time.
2% to 12% is a random crit.
9 outta 10 of deaths are mini/random crits.
and Possibly add random mini crits
I realise that. It just doesn't feel right if random crits were to be removed and we were given full control of items that can give us guranteed crits. This could cause a whole new set of problems. In the end, people need to realise that they will not get their way all the time, and should stop complaning. So i have to agree with you, i guess "hipocracy" wasn't the term that wasnt the most appropriate for this situation.
Autobalance can go burn in hell, though.
