No I didnt say it makes it any more of a "better" game. However most of the games that last so long, like tf2, skyrim, and minecraft, is due to lack of community assistance. That is the case with titanfall, overwatch, destiny, crysis ect. So many great games HAVE died, Im just telling you why the games that live longest do. Crysis 2 was my introduction to the genre and an amazing shooter game for its time. It had no community involved or custimizing their game, they just had the game. People got so bored of it that they started leaving to the point where the online servers were shut down forever. It still has amazing core gameplay and most people can agree with that, but just lika games like crysis 2, being a good game is not the deciding factor of how long the game is played.
I play Overwatch, I play TF2. I prefer Overwatch over TF2 because of its more modern combat mechanics, but I still enjoy Team Fortress 2 for the goofyness that it is.
But hey, take this comment with a grain of salt. I know I'm just going to be ignored.
For the entirely different games part, I would have to say that they obviously arent different in every way. And many games that last longer also are breakthroughs, the games I mentioned in my last comment are all breaktrhoughs for the genre, with overwatch being such a tf2 competition, it wont drag as much attention as it could have.
Franchises that establish a genre always seem to survive longer. The reason why things like mortal combat, mario, and star craft are still played. I think overwatch COULD establish a sub genre of a shooter/moba, but i cant really see it being a base of something new as it already has a base.
I thought it would be like....dota 2 expensive (I'm talking about like 60 dollar cosmetic gloves for a specific character) that ♥♥♥♥ is ridiculous
