Female version of TF2 characters

Pretty much all classes already have female varians made by the community.
Why not include those in and allow players to be Male or Female in game ?

Because there are already comics and a well-established backstory for the game. Female characters wouldn't make sense, and imo wouldn't fit the game very well.

Not all of them are good and they don't really need a story, just like they don't make a piece of story for each new cosmetics added to the game.

I don't see any female variant posted in the workshop, it would be nice to at least be able to vote on the best of those...
