Team Fortress 2
I thought the Sniper was australian, not british.
He keeps saying "God save the queen."
............ in an australian accent.

Is he australian or british?

Australia is part of the Commonwealth.

Now, turn the clock back 40 years as well.

BTW He is not a New Zealander. Just because he was born there doesn't make him a part of the culture. He was raised in Australia by Australian parents, so he is indeed Australian.

Culture sneak into everybody
The Sniper's from New Zealand, but he was raised by his Australian parents.

That's part of the Team Fortress 2 aesthetic, though. Things back in the 1960s weren't always researched completely accurately, especially since they wouldn't have had the internet or anything like that to help.

I don't think the Scout is quite Boston, it's more of a New York accent or something like that, but we go along with it because it's "something like that".

And Ireland and the 13 colonies are also a part of the common wealth, now set the clock back several hundred years.

Last I remembered, Ireland and the United States are not part of the commonwealth, and were not in the 1970's. Not to mention there are still Indians who say "God save the Queen".

He's not Boston at all with his accent. However the phrases he uses and the "tough guy" Persona certainly fits in well with the North End here in Boston.
