Heavy Minigun Tier List jungus OFFICIAL Tier List for Team Fortress 2
Lets talk Miniguns.

Alright, so I think for the objective list of best Miniguns, I'm going to rank them as follows...:

A - Tomislav, Natascha
B - Stock
C - Huo Long Heater
D - Brass Beast

and then for my personal tier list of Miniguns, I'm going to rank them as follows...:

A - Huo Long Heater, Natscha
B - Tomislav
C - Stock
D - Brass Beast

Explanation for the tier list:

Stock: I put it in B because it's always reliable. There's nothing bad about it. It ranks C in my personal tier list because I never use it, but it's not offensively bad like the Brass Beast.

Tomislav: It ranks top of A because it's just really good in general. Its upsides are actually incredibly impactful, and the slower firing speed is only a concern if both people are already pre-revved, but the Tomi lets you catch other Heavys off guard so that shouldn't happen. I rank it B in my personal list because I use it all the time, even though it's not really that cool.

Huo Long Heater: The gun is just a slightly below average weapon, thus, C. I rank it top of A in my personal list because the gun looks awesome and sounds awesome and has a super awesome ring of a fire and it's just really cool (like this ---> :steamsunny:)

Natascha: Probably the most underrated minigun for casual players, but anyone with experiences knows that it's a nightmare of a weapon. Unlike the Brass Beast where you can't move so you die really easy, you can still actually play the game while making playing the game miserable for anyone you shoot. While it does have a rev penalty like the Brass Beast, it's not nearly as crippling. The damage resistance feels more impact over the Brass Beast as well, since you're going to actually be playing the game and not rp-ing as a sentry gun. It easily ranks second place next to the Tomislav, and also second place in my personal tier list because I want to ruin peoples day.

Brass Beast: Awful gun. It's bad in casual, it's bad in MvM. Not being able to move while revved makes you an easy target for anyone semi decent at the game, and the huge rev speed penalty means you're forced to use the weapon defensively. You could sit on the cart but then you're just Sniper fodder. I legit do not think there is a single realistic situation where the Brass Beast is useful or viable.

In conclusion:
  1. The Huo Long is awesome, and the Tomislav & Natascha are really strong.

  2. Don't use the Brass Beast, it's a terrible weapon.

  3. I don't play Heavy so honestly I don't know what I'm talking about.

Have a good day. :steamhappy:

Side not: equipping the Shotgun does not make the Brass Beast better. Almost any situation you could use the shotgun, you could have just revved up your Minigun.

you do realize how deadly it can be if you're already revved up, the slower moving speed is nothing if you're playing on defense, and i think the brass beast is made more for defense, use something else if you're on offense

just because its made for a single team doesn't mean its the worst weapon in the game
user Sep 19, 2024 @ 3:01pm
it sounds like you're just using the weapon incorrectly

I'll check if that's an option and get back with you on it. Expect a reply in 2-3 business days.
The official Fireschlong ranking of Heavy's miniguns:
S: A burst damage sidegrade like Pyro received with the Dragon's Fury.
A: Tomislav, Stock
B: Natascha, Huo-Long Heater, Brass Beast
Based on personal preference, Natascha can be moved to A. I prefer it in B.

In defense of the Brass Beast: If you're playing Heavy properly (which means patient and methodical instead of always rushing in and revving up as soon as you see an enemy), you're already doing the thing that makes the Brass Beast effective, with only slightly more caution due to being more of a sitting duck than you already are.
Also, it's fairly decent in MvM. It's just the players using it who either play Heavy like Sniper because otherwise they die, or players who overextend and die. Huo-Long is excellent for clueless MvM Heavies. Brass Beast is excellent for MvM Heavies who know how to play.
Then again, I'm that jackass who uses the Brass Beast offensively, so of course I'm biased.

Conclusion: Heavy has no bad miniguns.

Side note: Shotguns are designed as a backup weapon, and they do fix the issues that Natascha and Brass Beast have with their slow rev-up. If you're caught off-guard, revving up your (non-Tomislav) minigun won't help when the enemy can just retreat while you're still revving up or kill you faster than you kill them when you're freshly revved-up, due to the damage penalty.

Brass beast is better than all the others on defense and on pushing the cart, the only situations where you should be playing heavy

Actual tier would be
God tier: Bass Beast
The best at doing everything Heavy is supposed to do

Okay:
Stock: Its okay

Bad:
Natascha: You get to slow people down so they can take less damage over a longer period of time wow
Huo Huo Hong Leater: It does less damage unless people are on fire and it can only set them on fire if they're so close they would die in < 1 second anyways, even spy doesn't care about the circle of fire

I want to play solo:
Tomislav:
If you have a medic than every medigun except Natashca is better
I only ever use Tomislav and stock. It's pretty split, but you can get a lot of mileage out of both miniguns in casual pretty easily so it really doesn't matter all that much.

the user minigun tier list

S tier: stock, it is consistently good across all situations

A tier: tomislav, its a pretty good weapon, a heavy 1v1 may not be in your favor though

B tier: brass beast, it encourages defensive gameplay and can shred hordes of enemies, unfortunately thats the only thing its good for

C tier: natascha, its ok, if you wanna use heavy as a support class that is, its very bad on its own

D tier: huo long heater, its only good if an enemy gets close enough to where your ring of fire can deal damage, which nobody with a mind is gonna do

honorable mention: iron curtain, its just a reskin of minigun, but its rare and cool as ♥♥♥♥
Thank you for this valuable information Jungus. There's just one small problem: the brass beast is usable on payload offense. Is it good? ♥♥♥♥ no, you're defenseless while you're not hugging the cart, but while you are hugging the cart the downside is negligible, at least assuming you're on top of or in front of the cart and letting it push you anyways.

Brass beast is one of the most criminally underrated mini guns in the game and the fact players choose to consciously ignore the 618 dps and 20% resistance because it makes you immobile on a class that’s already largely sedentary is craziness to me.
