Since that day, it's all payloads, seals, sandviches and cosmetic updates.
as for why it's allowed to happen? Idk ig in lore the conflicts are contained enough where it's not that disruptive to the local population plus the conflict generates a lot of income for various groups that supply arms to both teams
They fight because Blutarch and Redtarch wanted to have a bet who would live longer.
There you'll find a whole assortments of comics you can read to get a glimpse of what is the in lore explanation of why Red and Blu are fighting against each other. It's a big read in total so unless you have a disability that prevents you from reading more than a thousand words... Go watch a Youtube video that summarizes it all instead you
As in game lore? Non canon during casual match fights (You seriously gonna believe that Brazil is in the badlands?). Only MVM has some ties with the comics (Mostly the vicious cycle of a endless loop stalemate fighting).
The comics say that they are separate continuity but I find that BS due to the amount of effort put into them and it's the closest thing we'll ever get for TF2 to have an actual story.
L for Hale though. He lost his girlfriend to his arch nemesis. And the Headless horseman in game can two shot his ass to the shadow realm.
