Matchmaking Error: "A connection to the Steam VAC servers could not be made"
Title + a link to a troubleshooting page of which nothing applies to me (I'm on Linux).

Anyone have any idea about this? I tried reinstalling the game, verifying the files, deleting caches, deleting the workshop folder and other deletable files, I've even dug into my running processes and stopped all of those my user started that are not vital yet I can't connect.

All other games play fine, plus I can even play through Nvidia's GeForce NOW.

Adding to this: in the console, I keep getting `[PartyClient] Received MM Error QUEUE_KICK_AUTH`

Nope. Are you having the same problem? What have you tried?

I opened a ticket to steam support but they said that all the info relevant to solving the problem is on the help page but I guess they just ignored the part where I said that I'm on Linux and not Windows

Have you checked to see if steam is running the linux version of the game? I know that when trying to play source multiplayer games through proton leads to a VAC error. It is unlikely that steam installed the windows version, but its worth checking to make sure its not running via proton.

I'm pretty positive it is the Linux version since I have Proton disabled by default and all files in the TF2 folder look like regular Linux files (.so libs, files with no extension, shell scripts, etc)

Okay, somehow it just fixed itself? I can now just join in to casual as I did before but I don't think I changed or did anything that might affect that. So far I've only changed my HUD to 7HUD (which shouldn't affect networking in any way).

I guess the solution for this is to just wait until it fixes itself (took me around 2 weeks for it to get solved)
