How to make the Sun-on-a-Stick and Sharpened Volcano Fragment good?
I believe that both of these were RIFT promotional weapons. They both look REALLY cool, especially the axe, but as we all know they suck ♥♥♥♥.

So: how could their stats be reworked into a fun and useful weapon? Seriously, we have two amazing weapon models and the absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stats attached to them.

Suggestions?
(Just for fun)

Just noting, I'm not talking about a stat adjusent, I'm talking full-blown rework

SOAS
+10 afterburn duration
+50% afterburn damage
-50% swing speed
Use the power of the sun to burn your enemies.

Sharpened Volcano Fragment
+On Hit: Erect a volcano that spews magma at all players for 5 seconds
-100% swing speed

switch the stats around.

The Fragment would literally be the Axtingusher without the deploy speed penalty or the decreased swing speed.

maybe: SOAS 35% faster move speed while on fire
on hit:engulf your enemies in flame
on miss: engulf yourself in flame
boston basher mk 2

SVF : increases flamethrower afterburn time
+50% damage taken from enemy melee attacks
mini crits burning players

Hmm.... done some thinking of my own

SOAS:
On hit, creates a detonator-style burst of flame that ignites everyone in an AOE.
-20% damage
-25% swing speed
-50% afterburn damage

It would allow for scouts to spy check without having to use the Mad Milk/run around hitting walls and corners like a maniac.

Not so sure about the Sharpened Volcano Fragment. I considered a damage based on HP percentage (basically, do more damage to classes with higher HP) but not too sure if that would be too overpowered...

Then again, anyone with the guts to run up and melee a spun-up Heavy gets respect.

Or they're just stupid. That too.

It's a nice idea, don't know what spy mains would think of it, though.

I don't think its good idea to give Scout afterburn. I know Soldier got Cow Mangler but that doesn't really count. Scout just can't be able to spycheck reliably like Pyro. Note that you can only use Mad Milk once and guilotine/Wrapped Assasin is not too easy to use for spychecking either. Afterburn on SOAS would just be unfair for Spies. Yes you can always pistol them down or try guessing where they went with Scattergun and this would make it even more pointless on having afterburn melee imo. Try to think you are playing Spy and random Scout just sets you on fire.
What 'bout the Fan O War?

Heavy also has that minigun that gives him a ring of fire.

I agree. I like the idea above of setting people on fire and setting yourself on fire on miss cause its funny, but giving fire to other classes does seem a bit unfair to spies considering everyone is always on edge for them, spychecking anything that moves. Spies have it hard enough in my opinion. I'm saying this and I don't even like playing spy, I play their counter.

Sharpened Volcano Fragment:
+ Can set enemies on fire
+ Minicrits a burning target
+Afterburn caused can't be put out by water, or medkits
- 20% less damage
- Can't random crit
- 10% slower swing speed

Neither of them need to be changed. The Frag has a small perk, the Stick has a less small perk.

And ulitmately won't ever be really be used, even if they have that small perk.

Is that a reason to change them, though? Because there will always be those select few weapons that barely ever get touched. Some are even unused because they got changed, like the Enforcer.

Right now the Frag has its use mainly with the Phlogistinator, because the lack of damage is made up for in the boost you get. And the Stick is already indirectly buffed because of the Phlog hype.

I'd say yes, otherwise why have them in the game if they are just to be shoved to into the closest of never used weapons and never used? They don't have any benefit to using them compared to the other weapons for the classes the are for. And the enforcer, well it became underused after the 'balanced' it got from valve, it wasn't stuck being in the bin of highly underused weapons like the other two.

Sharpened Volcano Fragment? As it is now would be good for some other class that isn't pyro. Sun on a Stick? Is basically the Axtinguisher for the scout (the idea isn't really bad, but you basically make it highly situational for said class that uses it as they aren't even based around using fire).

There just isn't any real necessity to change them, beyond the reason that "they keep getting overlooked". If the weapons actually enables downsides, that would be a reason to change them.

Pyros and Scouts just don't rely on melees enough for it to matter, and equipping either the Stick or the Frag won't actually hurt you, passively or actively. At worst, you lose a little bit of potential bonus utility, but chances are you will not be meleeing enough for the downsides to matter.
