Work on getting a good scroll rate and you'll get a fair few jumps from this.
The speed gained from bhopping comes from airstrafing though (or from bhopping down slopes). Otherwise you'll end up losing speed on non-frame-perfect jumps (which is fundamentally impossible to do consistently).
You'll never see anything hugely significant from it though. There's a limit every time you touch the ground that almost fully (but not quite) brings your movement back to normal, so you only maintain a tiny bit of the speed you gained from airstrafing every jump. The best you can get is some jumps that aren't possible normally, or a spy being able to catch up and go faster than a medic (though he'd look pretty obvious doing that).
Or is it they just removed autojump when holding the space bar down?
Afaik holding +jump never resulted in autojumps.
