Weapon Names have black text censoring them.

Any help solving this issue? I can't see my friend's weapon names cause of the black text.

I have seen steam Rename a player because it was deemed racist, ie: ni&&er hunter, etc. Maybe steam blacked out the name because of something similar. They have also removed nazi symbol from the conscientious objector.

is it just the custom hud bug where certain weapon icons render as a black box below where they normally go

could be a bug like trash said, you can check your censorship settings on steam and TF

Well this does not have anything to do with censorship, it what you agreed to when you installed steam.

It happens to me as well and glad to see a post like this. I do not use any custom HUDs, and play the game vanilla. I still to this day have no idea why it blacks out most weapon/items on the bottom right after I get killed.

are you talking about the black square that covers a quarter of the screen? Because that happens to me

Just the name bar on the bottom right, and it looks like it censors the name of the weapon/item.

I too have been dealing with this issue myself for awhile now. I thought it was random since it only affects a few weapon names. Then I noticed it blacks out my friends custom named weapons that have offensive names. My censorship settings in tf2 and steam are set to allow everything so I don't know wtf is up with that. My wife who plays tf2 on the same computer does not have this issue. Its annoying af.
