Pyro's Flamethrowers violate the Geneva Convention [Protocol III] in TF2
Flamethrowers were banned during the Geneva Convention of 1980, which prohibited their use in warfare.

The reason for this ban was primarily due to the cruel and inhumane nature of flamethrowers, as they caused unnecessary suffering to both combatants and civilians alike. Additionally, flamethrowers were seen as a particularly gruesome weapon that could cause widespread destruction and panic among troops.

Despite their effectiveness on the battlefield, the moral implications of using such a weapon led to its eventual ban under international law.

The convention states that incendiary weapons should not be used if they cause unnecessary suffering or damage to civilians and civilian objects, and Pyro's flamethrowers violate that.

That's completely immoral, VALVe should remove Flamethrowers from TF2 completely.
Anyone in their right mind would say so.

If you have better, alternative ideas to suggest, please do, but her Flamethrowes should be restricted in one way, or another.

The Geneva convention regards conventional warfare between signatory nations. This is a private mercenary war between two unaffiliated parties.

By logical extension, this applies to RED vs BLU.
It’s a video game

Just because "it's not a real world!!!" (it is) it DOESN'T mean it's okay to be putting illegal things because "it's not real"

You do realize how your argument can be laid out, right?
Think of all laws, then come back to this thread.

Blue and Red never signed the Geneva convention.

They are not participants in the Geneva convention. They are not nations. They are PMC’s that can be subject to international humanitarian laws as well as the local laws of the land if they are tried as citizens (as well as other non-state fighters like guerrillas), but they are not held to the Geneva convention’s terms.

The existence of RED and BLU alone could be a violation of the Geneva convention under the premise of them being unlawful combatants, but it’s worth noting that the Geneva convention only governs armed conflicts between sovereign nations.

It's a videogame, made in the US, and the US is apart of Geneva Conventions.
RED and BLU can be just as good as actual nations.

That aside, do you actually think flamethrowers are okay in videogames?
This is just borderline immoral, you know that, right?

And since Team Fortrss players are mostly children, and flamethrower's damage is practically non-existent, it can invoke them to think it is the same in real life.
You know how dangerous it is?

Also, Pyromania is no joke, Pyro should be removed as a whole so she is not encouraging pyromaniac TF2 players.

That’s not how it works.

if you want to stretch the definition of sovereign nation then I guess both halves of 2fort can be their own nationalities, although there’s still the issue of these two nations never having signed the Geneva convention and conducting what is essentially an illegal (and lawless) private war between each other. Their existence as PMC’s alone make them unlawful combatants who are not protected by the conventions. Them existing inside of a signee’s borders doesn’t really mean anything, they’re not a national military nor are they affiliated with the US government in any capacity.

It's shocking that this games' devs would put such repulsive and brutal things in the game and its absolutely shocking that they got away with it for over 17 years, I have already contacted my local goverment representatives in order to get this game banned in my country and I hope other people will follow suit

And TF2 was released in 2007.

How convenient.
You can just say your game takes place in XXXX date if they banned the thing in YYYY to bypass.

Why do you want criminality in TF2?

Good for you, the uwufier girl.
That's how I call anyone.

Meaningful?
What you said is irrelevant, we are talking about Pyro here, not other things.

how is it irrelevant to point out that this thread could apply to most weapons in the game. its on topic and adds to the discussion. in a way that policing my words does not.
