My voice chat doesn't work in Tf2 at all, despite my mic working in everything else

I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix a problem with my voice chat not working whatsoever in Team Fortress 2. I can hear voice chat, but i cant transmit my own voice in the channels. My key is bound to v, voice_enable is set to 1, and i even tried binding the key via the console.
I thought maybe it was a source engine thing, since my mic works in everything else, like Discord or some of the games i play with voice chat (i.e. Destiny 2, VRChat, Contractors) but when I tested it on Counter Strike (i have literally never played the game and downloaded it strictly to test the mic) and Left 4 Dead 2, it worked fine and dandy. Also, I'd like to note that the voice chat works in the Team Fortress 2 Classic mod, as well as TFC. I went into my Steam settings and my mic is picking up there, as well as my actual windows settings (and i have voice allowed on TF2 as well.
I've been having this problem for the past 6 to 7 months but its only really started to annoy me when Im trying to play with my friend group on here when we're just using TF2 chat and not discord or when Im trying to make callouts. Anyone have any type of fix?
