TF2trades.shop
Apologies if this isn't the right sub forum. I'm currently trading with someone who is asking to utilize TF2trades.shop and I've never heard of this website before. They listed a buy order on backpack, does anyone know if this other 3rd party website is legit or not?

I don't know about that one but just saying my first impression is that it doesn't sound legit

also people even get scammed on the legit trustworthy 3rd party trading sites, so I'd be extremely cautious if u do end up doing it

I didn't end up going through with it. Dude posted a buy offer on backpack and I sent a trade with said buy offer. That should have been it.

I honestly believe it's a red flag if someone asks you to do trading on a third party site.

That's a funny way to look at it. That deserves a heart.

i mean, the steam login window is obviously fake

When tradeing player to player never get outside of steam, it will never redirect you to a website, and if the person wants you to go to a 3rd party website then it's 100% a scam
3rd party websites are only used for tradeing mass items thru bots, the better known safe ones are marketplace tf and scrap tf
There's also mannco . store but that side had a security breach a couple months back so i would trust it with your steam login

I mean they did a full refund for everyone affected (which tbf, due to their security measures, wasnt even that much) and lowered their already incredibly low fees for several months for everyone on the site. That imo is a more than fair handling of the situation and way more than you would expect out of anyone running these kind of sites.

They can't refund anyone who gets their inventory drained because of the breach so it doesn't matter.

The only legitimate websites in the world that ask for your Steam credentials are store.steampowered and steamcommunity, every single site that asks for it besides those is a phishing site.
None of the sites mentioned in your post ask for it.

Wait are you trying to say individual people got hacked because of it? I'm sorry, that's not how the steam login system works, and even if it did, you still couldn't trade through that.

People get their accounts hijacked using 3rd party sites all the time. Most of the time the hijackers wait months and then just drain the accounts at random.

A data breach on off of those sites just increases that risk.
