What's wrong with Competitive mode in TF2?
Recently, i've been trying to queue in Competitive mode and didn't get into a match for some time. I only got into competitive once a few weeks ago, it wasn't that good of experience.
Can someone tell me what's going on in this mode and how to play it safely?

Nobody plays comp, which is why you can't find a match.

no weapon banlist, poor map pool and no stopwatch for maps that should have it.
I personally think they should of maybe gotten in contact with community orgs about it and just let the competitive community handle a banlist and map pool while also letting 6v6 and Highlander be played with role queue. Obviously it might be a little hard to get a highlander game going but if enough people use it in theory it should at least get games going at a slightly slower rate than casual as is. The biggest problem by far though that I can discern is there is no incentive past a rank; at least with community competitive you can enter a league and have a chance of winning prizes and it's where all the top players are so you can improve. Also valve gives medals for community comp events.

yes. Anyone that plays competitive plays it else where. There are PUGs and even organized leagues. A google search should point you in the right direction like tf2center. Note a lot of the sites usually want people with some experience, like 500hrs in game.
