this isnt about the mercs at all, this is about the tf2 universe

so trans people always existed, and tf2 is already pretty sexist intentionally

so the joke is, that transitioning is actually pretty manly in the tf2 universe

transitioning from male to female is accepted because giving men the ability to be anyone, including women, supports the patriarchy, and give more freedom to the men of america

and transitioning from female to male is portrayed as rejecting femininity and becoming a chad man instead of a lame women

this feels like a joke that would happen in tf2 and i think its hilarious.
im not saying this should happen or should be canon. i just think this would be funny

I can't think of a time TF2 has ever made a joke of this nature at all whatsoever. This would be incredibly out of place and weird.

To be fair the comics already have, kind of. Ms. Pauling is canonically a lesbian, at least according to Jay Pinkerton. It just doesn't get much/any focus because it doesn't really matter. The closest they've gotten to outright acknowledging it is when she's ogling Zhanna and Zhanna thinks she's ogling Soldier instead and gets jealous.

is that what pyro was doing in the 4th comic?

ms Pauling being a lesbian makes more sense then pyro being a furry with a fetish, because lesbians existed in 1973 and always did from the beginning of humanity, and pyro probably doesn't know what furries are or what sex is

also why would those 2 things be in anyway similar or equally disprovable? ms Pauling's sexuality can be up for interpretation and doesn't have to be confirmed officially

Also I dunno if that comparison works anyway since Jay Pinkerton was a writer on the comics. Maybe if he was less directly involved in developing the characters it'd make sense but that's not the case, so.
