Gibus spies divide into two groups:
1) Typical – they have basic understanding of what spy is supposed to do. They disguise, cloak, uncloak behind an enemy, fail backstab horribly and futilely try to butterknife.
2) Extra dumb: they see spy has a gun, and they only use a gun. Spy with a gun can kill you but he is weaker than, say, battle engie (w/o mini sentry, perhaps even without gunslinger).
To use revolver effectively, spy must be ok at staying hidden and know where and when to attack weak players. Otherwise he is better than if he was butterknifing, but still gonna get outgunned by anyone he can't kill in two noncrit shots. A gun is a helping option, not main weapon.
if i can (meaning basically no peeps around) some pyro tryna chase me down with flamethrower i just 180 and stat shooting with pistol 3 or 4 shots a pyro is dead
its a rare instance but its a 180 tun on that pyro either they tank damage and die trying to kill you or they let you escape
