Team Fortress 2
Tomislav VS Minigun VS Shotgun (Objective Graph)
You guys still believe that the shotgun and minigun are useful for some reason so I calculated their damage to put into a graph. This is assuming the Tomislav is only halfway through a hop and minigun isn't missing any bullets despite having really bad accuracy, but the Tomislav is still miles ahead despite these handicaps. It's also assuming maximum damage rampup just to make the numbers easier, but due to the weapons all having the same damage rampup nothing changes if you go further back other than the minigun losing even more damage since it's really inaccurate. Maybe the shotgun too, idk exactly how that spread compares to the Tomislav.

The only time the shotgun is better than the Tomislav is if someone is running around with so little health that they die to a single shotgun blast, but even in that rare situation the Tomislav would kill them in like a third of a second. The only time the minigun is better than the Tomislav is if you need to deal several thousand damage to someone who's within Disciplinary Action range of you, which never happens outside of Mann VS Machine.

There is quite genuinely no reason to use the minigun or the shotgun other than you think they look cool and are fun. The Tomislav outclasses both of them in every single way.

Ok but what if I'm actively handicapping myself by using a minigun that ISNT the tomislav?

Minigun go brrr

Heavy always has a medic, so a sandwhich is always better than a shotgun. A heavy with a shotgun is a useless Heavy.

Yeah that's the only reason to use the minigun. The Tomislav is objectively better in a gameplay sense but it looks and sounds like garbage. The minigun looks and sounds awesome.

The Natascha is overpowered and just as good as the Tomislav if not better. The Huo-Long isn't exactly the strongest choice out there, but it's at least different and unique unlike the minigun which is just the Tomislav with worse numbers. The Brass Beast sucks, it's just the minigun with worse numbers (which is the Tomislav with worse numbers).

My personal belief is that weapons that are just "stock but better" should never exist in TF2, and should always have a meaningful downside to make it a sidegrade to stock. The Tomislav should have some sort of downside that actually matters so that players have to make an actual choice between stock and Tomislav.

The Natascha can also let an overhealed Heavy survive a fully charged headshot from every rifle except the Machina simply by being revved

i prefer the minigun because the war paints looks sick on it

Tomislav would be balanced if it lost all of its positive attributes except Silent Killer and its firing speed penalty was increased from 12% to 20%, but it would still be a poorly designed weapon. It should be fully reworked.

How did you even get these precise statistics?

You should add the Sniper Rifle to this list. It'd be really easy because you'd just need to write 1 number and copy it a bunch :steamhappy:

Which ones? The damage they deal? The wiki lists weapon damage, rev time, and attack speed, so it's trivial to chart it out like I did. I'm gonna put an asterisk here but not tell you why: *

It never matters to me. Every minigun is a minigun, and it’s going to do hella damage regardless of which one I choose.
Stock looks sexy, Tomislav looks like it peaked in high school.
Monoxide Jun 30, 2024 @ 10:27pm
Tomislav being better than minigun was proven years ago, and idk why anyone would use shotgun over sandvich.
