Discord Overlay Not Working

I don't know why this keeps happening: When I launch the game, I don't even get a popup telling me which keys to press (which, I know the default is Shift+`), and the thing is all my settings are default so it should work. If anyone has had similar problems, but they found a solution, please help me out. The only solutions I ever see are in relation to disabling Discord, and I want it enabled to go back and forth from here and my server. :')

i had this problem a while ago, just retoggle the overlay for tf2 on discord
it should be on Settings > Registered Games

also try changing tf2 to borderless windowed mode by going to its video settings
