For steam deck users or anyone wants to help.
I heard a new update came out I was really excited to play it on my steam deck since that’s my only way to play TF2
But got it downloaded gave me 2 options to load tf2 but I clicked on both it returned me to steam menu for starting the game

I even tried booting up different protons but 9.0 only got me In the game to boot but looking for a casual game it would give me an insecure error. But seems like I might not be the only one that has this problem

The VAC system that TF2 uses is incompatible with proton. you will have to switch back to the Steam Linux Runtime.

I've seen that some people have had success switching from SLR to Proton and back again. Not sure, since my main PC running GNU/Linux never had an issue launching the game in the first place.

Thank you so much for telling me that, I will start testing that out and see if I can switch to steam linux to see if that would work and find me a game

So TF2 is broken on Steam Deck for now? :( I was considering getting the Deck since my laptop broke.

This is how I got TF2 running on Steam Deck.
Go to Properties, select Compatibility tab, check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" and select "Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 (Sniper)".
If you don't see Sniper option, go to Settings -> System and set System Update Channel to Beta.

Thanks, I bet they’ll patch it out by the time I get my Deck. Hopefully…
