All Spies I see usually go for trickstabs.
Spy does help his team, the enemy team can no longer be 100% focused on what's in front of them and need to waste time spy checking.
I agree that stacking Spy is detrimental to your team, though. Even Spy players prefer to work alone, but it's possible to remain effective with 2 Spies on the team at most.
Not dying with your crutch watch? (btw, the existence of this item means the odds are never stacked against you; you get more free chances than any other class, you're just contributing nothing while you don't die aggressively)
Killing one nearly dead guy > half the others would have also killed while doing more?
Backstabbing some dude you could have just shot?
Taking down a sentry that's specifically the classes intended goal how is this odds stacked against you?
I find the appeal to be the adrenaline you get from using him. Successful sneaking into bases, finding out enemy weakness so your teammates can push those weaknesses for your benefit, annoying the ♥♥♥♥ out of engis and destroying their nests over and over again, successfully backstabbing your enemies and trick stabbing, going invisible from the enemy and being able to escape. Disguises can be lots of fun to trick people. Some people are just easily tricked and Spy can be a very adaptable class to pick if used well. He rewards clever thinking. He’s just really fun to play. Hope this answers your question, Arc.
