Team Fortress 2

Why Spy main?
Like what's the appeal?
If you got a kill as spy, it literally just means the other guy was bad at the game, not that you were good; good players just shoot you or literally walk away.
So its not to show how skilled you are
If you took down an engi as spy, it means his aim sucked, because an engi who can aim kills you in 2 hits. If there are multiple engis and you took down down, it means they forgot their brains that day.
If you wanted to counter engis, demo is better
If you wanted to kill the enemy medic, sniper does it in 1 shot from across the entire map at no risk
So sniper is better
If you wanted to actually contribute towards victory by any metric beyond killing bad players who suck that you would kill faster with nearly any other class,
Every other class is better

So is it just because Spy mains are selfish and want the game to be worse for everyone else? Is that why they join, go spy when there's already 5 spies, then proceed to contribute absolutely nothing, ever, except killing "RodriguezEsJejeje15", the FTP Sniper who has no items or ability to communicate who spends the entire match zoomed in no matter how many times he died?

They watched MrSwipez or happen to stumble upon StaryKrow's content.

All Spies I see usually go for trickstabs.

It's rewarding to achieve success when the odds are stacked against you, I think that's the main appeal for the class.

Spy does help his team, the enemy team can no longer be 100% focused on what's in front of them and need to waste time spy checking.

I agree that stacking Spy is detrimental to your team, though. Even Spy players prefer to work alone, but it's possible to remain effective with 2 Spies on the team at most.
cuz Casual has a lot of players with no awarness

Succeed... at what?
Not dying with your crutch watch? (btw, the existence of this item means the odds are never stacked against you; you get more free chances than any other class, you're just contributing nothing while you don't die aggressively)
Killing one nearly dead guy > half the others would have also killed while doing more?
Backstabbing some dude you could have just shot?
Taking down a sentry that's specifically the classes intended goal how is this odds stacked against you?
It's because of Mr. Swipez.

lots of players just pick a class they personally find cool then stick with it even if they know it's bad. it involves none of the efficiency wannabe reasoning you're trying to establish itt.

Idk man, I have funny chances to run with red tape and with cloak and dagger when dealing w/ engis. Just instant destroy

I find the appeal to be the adrenaline you get from using him. Successful sneaking into bases, finding out enemy weakness so your teammates can push those weaknesses for your benefit, annoying the ♥♥♥♥ out of engis and destroying their nests over and over again, successfully backstabbing your enemies and trick stabbing, going invisible from the enemy and being able to escape. Disguises can be lots of fun to trick people. Some people are just easily tricked and Spy can be a very adaptable class to pick if used well. He rewards clever thinking. He’s just really fun to play. Hope this answers your question, Arc.
