Why is demoknight bad?

Demoknight isn't bad. He is very easy to play and very easy to do good with, hence why people hate him.
Someone good at demoknight is unstoppable. I've encountered some people who were obviously just getting started though.
because hes everywhere at the same time, and if he gets to many heads. its basically just becomes unfun
People also hate the rocket-jumping soldier for his one weird trick.
Aight here's my rage filled rant

Forcing some classes to deal more damage can unfairly sway the favor towards demo knight especially against base demo. I feel that this is the reason why at least 80% of all demo players I come across are Demoknight. The most common Demoknight load out consists of two high damage weapons as well as an added 15% damage reduction towards fire and explosives plus a larger health pool and greater mobility. Trying to fight something that can go faster than you, has more health and can deal 88 damage in one eye lander swing by going 20mph in 1 second whilst still having a 100 damage grenade launcher to fall back on is just a death sentence to demo as well as closed corner scouts.

TLDR: a pick class with the health of soldier, the mobility of scout and the explosive damage of demo (plus trimping and damage reduction) can be unfair in certain situations.
I do not hate demoknight. However I can tell you that demoknight being locked to melee essentially makes him objectively worse than a demo with just a grenade launcher. You lose out on range and you don't get much range on your swords to compensate, plus you have a harder time dealing with sentries. Also you don't have stickies. I really don't need to elaborate on that one.

Close range combat isn’t most players strength combined with reach and power of his melee and charges.

Like most classes that require close range, sentries or defense disable them noticeably
it's because due to the nature of his swords (Especially the half zat and the eye lander) the demoknight can just punish worse players while also punishing the better players due to factors out of their control.

from previous matches with them atleast.

Demoknight is high risk high reward

The more heads you get, the more powerful you become to the point it makes him faster than a scout w/ having 5 heads
Demoknight was an answer to the design flaw of demoman, a bad one, You basically take the demolition out demoman by turning him into some medieval knight. He now no longer does his intended job which was to destroy sentries from indirect angles; if you keep the grenade launcher you are gimping yourself as demoknight but without it, you have 0 means of destroying sentries. I main demoman but have never enjoyed demoknight, without the tide turner it feels like you have 0 angular control of demo's charge, I've never noticed much control improvement with the booties or peg leg so I don't get the point of losing your primary damage(grenade launcher) to opt for them, It is an all around janky experience
nothing personal such as hate, but yes i call him mediocre.

he's a bullet sponge or escape artist whose arsenal centers on one of the least interesting part of the shooter. sorry if i'd rather eat something else.
He's not bad, he's just way too good, for some reason.
