There's probably a bit more to it but that's basically what you'll be doing 99% of the time, he's a very easy class to play and do well with.
pyro is also a good beginner class BUT there's a LOT more challenge, as theres a hard cap on primary range, airblasting, requires more positiong and game sense, but on the upside, dealing with spies is a breeze and combos are fun. other classes like demoman, engineer, scout, spy, and sniper all require more skill and familiarity with other classes.
but then again, we all play different. pick a class you feel you can play the best and start from there. but be warned, picking spy or sniper off the bat is a horrible idea because of how much precision and thought goes into everything, especially with spy.
Medic is the easiest class in the game, I truly don't understand people who act otherwise. A 10 year old who doesn't play video games could make a difference as a medic. 50% of the gameplay is holding left click on people while stand behind them or around a safe corner. Not even joking.
Heavy, Medic, and Pyro will get mentioned a lot for this topic, but they are not good options for learning the game.
