i keep seeing people talk about this character, but i dont know who it is. Is it another name for the director from the comics? is this another madcap like thing? who is he

When you're on the class select screen press 4 and you play as the Demoman

Demoman is a secret character that was first found on February 30th, 2001. He can be accessed using a secret code hidden in the console. Simply type "quit smoking" in console during a game, and he will appear in front of you. He will take you to a secret area, where you will have to battle him. He has 69420 HP and can use any weapon ingame. Once you defeat him, you will gain access to him, and be able to play as Demoman.

There is actually an easter egg like this in game. It only works on Linux servers due to spaghetti code, though.

quit smoking just quits the game tho, unless it crashes it now
