i remade the spray, exported it as a tga with no background, and a jpg with a background.
importing the tga directly without converting it into a vtf didnt work.
importing the jpg directly didnt work.
so i re opened the gimp file, re exported them, deleted all existing copies in the materials/vgui/logos folder and now suddenly they both worked.
no idea what this issue is, maybe it was with my version of vtf edit? since i never imported anything into vtf edit this time.
but then why did it take 2 tries!? it wasnt the deleting ive done that before. i didnt edit the images inbetween the export attempts, i even repoened the new vtf tf2 created in my vtf edit, checked the no mipmap/LOD boxes, and it still works and is indeed now forced high quality.
ugh, im confused but at least it works for some reason now.
tf2 cant import png far as i can tell
so therefore anything i imported into vtf became basically permanently 'corrupted' and nothing i would do would make it work.
even if i exported it back into tga, brought it into gimp, editing, and re-exported it.
when i made a new spray, and exported them without every using vtfedit on them, thats when they started working.
i then did make a nice png, 512 square for good resolution, and imported it as the 7.4 then it worked perfectly, thank you
