[Fixed] Mic broke after update

My mic won't turn on and if I try to it just turns off instantly, It works before the update but not anymore now, I tried using other mics and it still won't work when I test it in the settings. It only won't work on tf2

Mics only have 3 states:
- Plugged in and working.
- Unplugged.
- Broken.

I assume "My mic won't turn on" means the little mic icon at the bottom right.
I'd assume checking your mic's wellbeing through Windows audio device settings - if it registers any sound - you'll see the graph. Then, check whether your keyboard voice button is broken or not, and rebind the voice button to some other button.

thanks for answering but it still not working.
well it works perfectly fine in every other game but tf2 just wont turn on. like when i press v nothing happened. and when i check in the settings to see if it even can pick up my voice it also wont turn on.

- Launch any map.
- Enter in console: +voicerecord
- Then, enter voice_loopback 1

Now, saying anything into the micro should loob your own voice back at you through your headphones/speakers IF there was an issue with your voice bind.
If it didn't work past that, the issue seems to be based somewhere in Windows. Some microphone settings are preventing TF2 from using it.
TF2 is an OOOOOOLD game. No matter how many bugs it had, it had absolutely no microphone bugs to my knowledge, so, the problem is obviously based around some of your local PC setting, or driver.

I can also suggest trying deleting the microphone with Microsoft Device Manager, and "re-finding" it back. Just in case some application hogged it. There is a thing where some applications can take full control over audio device, preventing other audio devices from using it.

I had the happen the other week...now it randomly works for no apparent reason. Might just need to reset computer and update steam and stuff... I don't think I really did anything to make it work again.

found out something funny today, I opened the file location of tf2 and there is two tf2 launchers tf and tf_win64. if i run tf insted of running tf_win64 my mic works, but steam starts up tf2 with tf_win64 insted of tf.
edit: i cant join a match by running tf i need to run tf_win64. i am boned
