When I first launched the game around the time of the Blue Moon Update and got through the tutorial, my first match was for Casual. It was the first option on the list. When I finally joined, I chose Pyro as that class seemed to be the easiest to play, and I also wanted to do the free Pyroland Contracts. It was a pretty good game for my first time, all things considered. I did check out the Server Browser (and even got kicked once or twice because I didn't know how to "play" Payload Race), but for the most part I stuck with Casual. Around 2022, I decided to make my first purchase on the in-game Mann Co. Store. I got a few cosmetics for my Engie as well as the Rescue Ranger and Eureka Effect. I also decided to pick up a Jungle Inferno Contracts Pass later that year because it motivated me to improve at the game.
I also checked out the Server Browser some more. It was just Uncletopia, Skial, Undertale 18+ Furry Roleplay, and 24/7 Highertower !RTD x10 Randomizer with its own store where you could buy stuff like trails. Uncletopia interested me at the time, but it was ALWAYS full. I did hear about casual.tf, so I decided to see what that was about, and it was what I wanted: Casual, with significantly less of those AI sharpshooters. I played on it quite a bit until it was no longer available. Back to Casual, I encountered a TON of bots, some even with my name. Around Halloween of 2022 I managed to find some Spy bots that just joined and left. I wish we had those bots instead.
Around a few months ago I lost interest in playing the game, as with bots plaguing Valve's official servers, there was simply no way to play the game. You're forced to remember the names of thousands of bots, make sure you have a way to protect yourself against instant headshots (i.e. the Fists of Steel paired with a Shotgun and a Vaccinator Medic), and pray you don't get instantly votekicked upon joining.
tl;dr Casual holds a special place in my heart, and it's sad to see these bots ruin such a good game. There's very few Community Servers that I'm even remotely interested in, as well. This is why I want TF2's bot problem to be fixed. It's not about the content updates (though those would be nice to experience), it's about the gameplay.
I also do want to see TF Comics #7 so that Valve has a proper excuse to abandon this game (seeing as the storyline would be finished) but that's neither here nor there.
