i want to note though that i've yet to find a throwaway mail site that can receive the confirmation email. whether thats because they automatically delete spam mail or if the website is just (still) overloaded is unknown to me so far though.
I would say that its because any credible mailing list setup automatically filters out accounts from throw away addresses via blacklist and obvious catch-all accounts. But the people who put the website up are barely competent enough to cobble together a functioning single page website, so I doubt that is the issue.
I hope they have at least some common sense. If they are not filtering out throwaways or catch-alls it would take minimal scripting knowledge and less than an hour to throw together a basic script that can just continuously sign the petition under random emails (and verify them eventually) automatically. Heck...If thats the case I wouldnt be surprised if half the signups are fraudulent.
2. Server cost is a thing
3. you just give out the mail (the only needed option) an name if you choose.

Don't use your personal email! sheesh!
Don't use your personal email as the backup if you've forgotten your password. Some leak the first few characters on a password reset.
I'm not saying don't sign the petition, but know it will happen. I signed it using a new email with fake information to keep it separate.
