A carefully curated list of good community servers I've been tweaking & adding to for some time, & plan to regularly update (NA mainly- May 2024)

Hey guys, like the title says I've been working on a list of what I believe are good community servers I've been tweaking for awhile now. Started as a comment on Reddit (I know, not everyone's cup of tea, bear with me), then a post on a test sub there that I made & have been editing for ~1 week. I literally went through every single community server, and checked them out myself as I had a feeling there were some diamonds in the rough flying below people's radar. Here is the post:

Team Fortress 2 good community servers (mainly NA, some EU- May 2024)

I tried to make it as thorough as possible, with short synopses, taking into account my beliefs but also acknowledging some people's preferences are slightly different. I think it's pretty solid at this point & plan to regularly update it. I believe good community servers should be supported now more than ever with the lingering bot issue & are often financed at the expense of some truly passionate TF2 fan somewhere taking time, effort & money out of his day to host.

Also if you're unaware, to join these servers, in your TF2 main menu:

1) Top right- Find a Game
2) Scroll down to Community Servers
3) Go to the Favorites Tab
4) Click "Add As Server" - tan button at the bottom right of window- Visual to show where[i.imgur.com]
5) Copy the IP addresses listed on my guide up there, then click "Add this address to Favorites".
6) You may have to click "Refresh" at the bottom of the window- directly to the right of the "Add s Server" button
7) Double click on the server in the list to join

Never played it, but I heard as long as you have sprays disabled, you should be good for that server.

I don't regularly play there but have learned that "weird" fanbases are usually at the very least friendly, and funny. It's also the #25 most played server according to BattleMetrics so if you're just looking for somewhere to play, & Vanilla, it's worth it to have on there for that reason alone, even as a backup if you wouldn't normally play there since Vanilla servers (and populated servers, period) are hard to come by at this point. I can't attest to the community there personally which is why I underlined it in pink.

But yeah, disable sprays probably if you cant take the weird factor: cl_spraydisable 1

So I'm not going to get into a big back-and-forth in what might just be the most unnecessary strange hill-to-die-on you guys seem to be taking in what I thought was a pretty straightforward, helpful post, so this'll be my only comment:

No one is "clutching their pearls" by stumbling across random slurs & edgelord behavior online. What people are doing is going "what's wrong with these people? Who wants to play on a server where everyone's angry & bitter & hateful?" I gravitate toward offensive comedians but that's the thing- they know how to tow the line- not some kid shouting the n word a million times thinking he's funny. The distinction between people who cling to the 4chan/edgelord mentality & being actually racist is non-existent. It just breeds crass, horrible, offensive, unfun environments.

I mean just look at the response here from people in support of "hehe it's my right to spam the n word all day in chat fight me"- This was a harmless, helpful post I made in an effort to try to help people, and the contingency of players opposed to ya know, maybe not making strangers uncomfortable by taking 1 or 2 words out of their vocab is to poke fun & deride. Not say "Oh ok people have different opinions, that's fine. Thanks for taking the time to make this list though "

That behavior is the energy you are circulating by being super cool with spouting garbage in-game. Toxic, unfriendly, hostile environments. 4chan is the mecca for the "no rules/say anything" mentality- go there and tell me that's an ideal place to hang out. Just completely miserable hateful people & you'll end up the same by engaging in it. I'm not gonna pass out if I hear offensive words, the fact is it's weird & makes people uncomfortable. Grown adults do not go around shouting slurs & being edgy.

good list. you could also make a steam guide with this list since threads tend to get buried quickly

As others stated you should make this into a guide so it’s a lot more convince t and you have a link to it rather than here since stuff gets buried quickly over spam
