Team Fortress 2
Unable to initialize sound capture
I spent all night trying this problem, my mic(s) all work in other games including but not limited to other valve games, both my pc and steam itself detect said mic(s) all apps are allowed to us the mic(s) but tf2 keeps giving me "Unable to initialize sound capture" and the only thing I could find to solve the problem that I didn't do was factory reset, I just want to be able to use my tf2 chat and this is my last resort, if anyone has any ideas beside setting my default mic in the windows setting and steam settings I would appreciate it. Thank you for your time

if someone posts a fix saying to delete one of the exe files and rename the other don't do it. That is only a workaround and will stop working as more servers transition to 64 bit. The only solution I've seen people say that works though is factory resetting or fully reformatting. i'm having the same issue although i have yet to reformat mine.

something that worked for me is downloading the windows ISO, mounting it, then running the setup and reinstall while keeping programs and data. I hope this works for you.

ISO can be downloaded here https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11
completely forgot about this discussion but here's this if you still haven't gotten it fixed

I've been having the same issue and have been doing everything to fix it. The voice command 1 the disabling all audio devices besides the correct one, and setting it as the default device. At this point I think I'm just gonna have to live with it. :MoonlighterIrritated:
