Is creators.tf good

first of all I like they have cool maps and people actually playin the game objective, but downside, all these plugins and crap, totally unneeded custom weapons are just a turn off for me, I’m not interested in janky custom guns tbh

are there any other communities where I can just play vanilla with custom maps and no BS

Players on creators.tf are worse than the people on casual. You also cannot pick the maps you want to play and you will probably have higher ping due to the lack of servers world wide. Most of the custom cosmetics are ugly and TF2 doesn't need more weapons, it needs to fix the weapons that are already in the game.

Creator.tf is a good idea in theory, but very badly directed in action.

in it's current state there is a lot of bugs and huge server issue (but that's not something we can complain about, it's a community driven project, and the fact they managed to make as much server in the world is freaking incredible). The new weapons are ok, but they lack beta testing and some have poorly made stats choices

But biggest problem is this :

For the moment, the community's contribution is inexistant in Creator.tf: for exemple there is a "idea" section in their discord but all the ideas are rejected with little arguments. The recent half life themed update is just made of pre-existing workshop content selected by a couple of mods and new creations by high members of the project. No democratic community contribution. Also some mebers are very toxic. Some even asked to stop sending HL related idea, dispise the fact that a hl themed update was on the horizone. It felt it was more "their own little server project" rather tha a community creator project.

If they keep on going this ellistic way, some mods will start to go rogue and behave like bonk n robin (invasion update) and that will be very destructive. I have already saw some complain about map makers not being remunerated. I have asked the mods about it, most of them are not aware of that and some even insulted me. Also if this whole mess ends up like invasion, Valve will have to terminate the creator.tf initiative, and that means the end of any kind of community contribution.



I think we souldn't just spit on the project just for server and playbase problems because what they are doing might have an impact on the future of the game. Also a lot of complains are just due to tha fact that VNN is the main headmaster of the whole project, and since some people just don't like his face i guess they are being salty about c.tf just to piss him off.

But still, creator.tf has some major problems and most mods pretend that they don't exist. i'll still get around and play on those servers to see how this all goes to. But yeah, i'm sceptical.

It's like any community server, either it appeals to you, or it doesn't.
Do I think they're fine? Yeah. Do I think I'll spend all my TF2 time on them? No.
I see them more as a way to enjoy TF2 in short bursts. Like, play on them while waiting to join a different community server that is full.

I played on them a couple of hours the other day, and I haven't encountered a single custom weapon yet. I think most people play on the servers the same way as I do. They don't care about the custom stuff added. They just want a relaxing, close to vanilla experience. Sure, the custom weapons sort of detract from that vanilla experience, but I don't think to the point they utterly ruin it.

The only one I see as a bit of an outlier is the Pistol for Engineer that removes Sappers. The rest? Eh. The Thumper is just a shotgun that doesn't function any different from any other shotgun, you're not gonna change your playstyle around it when fighting against it. And the new Medic melee is still underwhelming to the point no is gonna use it over the Übersaw. So imo, you can pretty much ignore them. I'd say to still enjoy the servers before they're going to change already existing weapons. Now it's still your chance to get a close to vanilla experience.

I can't really suggest you any other community servers, since I don't live in the US.

No , it´s not , why? they dont accept other ideas and you can easly get banned for doing a joke like i did it took me 2 words to get banned

They basically ban everyone that dont agree with them so no democracy at all i recommend you to stay away from their servers.
