Team Fortress 2
hey guys i just realized something about demoman in tf2
if demoman is scottish, then does that mean there are black people in scotland IRL? not be racist or anything but yk it's kinda uncommon and they make up only 0.7% of the population (i used google k)

According to original concepts demo was supposed to be white and have red hair.

I guess valve changed that to avoid it looking like they're white supremacists or something.

He's not a person, he's a cyclops. Hope that clears it up.

bruh that makes no sense i dont think it was bc of white supremacy maybe it was bc they wanted a more diverse cast which is why they also made pyro gay

I can't remember valve oficially saying hes gay, but judging by cosmetics he kinda is. As for diversity I don't think they were aiming for that specifically. At the time of release the mercs were not all that much diverse except for age and nationality (9 classes are men and 8 of them white) so I rather think it was the supremacy issue with demo after all.

Scottland abolished the trade and ownership of slaves back in 1807, so factoring that and the fact Scottland has an issue with the systems which even allowed for slavery to exist due to England's treatment of the Scottish and the Irish (especially if we factor the irish potato famine) then it actually would make sense for Demo to be black and his family to ultimately be as wealthy as they are in TF2's setting since the DeGroot family would not only have the time to be as wealthy as they are but also the means to allow the family to get the chance.

Also the map DeGroot's Keep and the crown cosmetic Demo has at least implies that Demoman may have had royalty in his bloodline, which could suggest that a white ancestor may have married into a black family after 1807.
