Spoilers for 2024
So I happened to run into the janitor who is responsible for all the tf2 updates. We talked, and even joked a bit about the current state of the game, he told me how there are literally spider webs and tumbleweed in the tf2 dev room.

But here is the juicy bit, the Heavy update is definitely dropping this year. He told me about a couple of changes that will be implemented. First of all, the base movement speed for Heavy will be slight increased. Furthermore, any secondary consumable will grant a temporary attribute like resistance, movement speed, faster wind-up time, etc. depending on the item itself.

I was told about a significant weapon change regarding the Brass Beast but wasn't given concrete details. Only that the upcoming update would change how this weapon would be utilized. Shotguns won't receive any change. Certain miniguns will have specific attributes amplified or reduced for balance purposes. Melee weapons weren't brought up, making me think that they are still being worked on or that no major change will be made to them.

There was also something that he didn't elaborate on further. Basically saying that Heavy suffers from not being paired up with a Medic, hence why there will be a change to encourage other players to pick Medic and remain glued to a Heavy. I have some speculations of my own regarding this but we shall see how this will be implemented.

He was pretty humble. I told him how I was one of the people running around telling people that the game is dead, he just smirked and said that he didn't blame me. For the ladies out there, the man is already married.

There's no way an actual person is employed to work on TF2. I've always imagined random people breaking into Valve HQ at night and taking control of the servers just so they can add random stuff and then quickly log off. Kind of like "The Elves and the Shoemaker" fairy tales but it's community members instead
