Engineer's pistol is UNDERRATED or BAD?

I've found it cool how the pistol works like semi-automatic, and has a widespread of bullets of course.
But the thing is, the first hit is ALWAYS a straight accurate bullet for some reason. Wouldn't that make it a good component for ranged fighting? I mean even with the spread, it's still good in a bit further scenario to combine with your mini-sentry and shotgun if they get close.
Through some testing, at the same range, the shotgun dealt less damage than the pistol, which would make the pistol a necessary weapon to use until the enemies are close to be hit by the shotgun.
You also get about infinite bullets, well a lot, 212 bullets.

The pistol is neither. It's an okay weapon at best that is hugely outclassed by the other two weapons in the same slot.

Pistol is fine, It's just that the wrangler is better in every conceivable way to where you are at a disadvantage if you are not using it in your loadout.

It's good, I generally use it if I'm pairing up the Gunslinger with either the Frontier Justice or Widowmaker, where it shines as a secondary well. Sometimes even the stock shotgun with the gunslinger.

People that use normal Sentries though generally rely on the normal sentry securing all their kills. Making the Wrangler usually the better choice for a secondary even when they use the Rescue Ranger.

the pistol is good, it's just that the wrangler and short circuit are so overpowered there's no reason to ever use it

That thing has infinite ammo but Engineer has game breaking unlocks so it doesn't matter

It's good, but overshadowed by having one of the most overpowered weapons in the game and an UNO reverse card against Soldiers/Demos on the same slot.

It's not bad, it also pairs well with the widowmaker. I won't ever use the wrangler
